Embassy of Germany donates hearing aids to children of Kindergarten No. 167
The children with hearing impairments of the Chisinau-based Kindergarten-Crèche No.167 received 54 hearing aids from the Embassy of Germany. The donation was handed over by the German Ambassador to Moldova Matthias Meyer on January 28, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The 54 hearing aids were bought in Moldova and cost between 3,000 and 4,000 lei each. The Embassy became thus involved in a project implemented by the Society for Integrating the Hearing-Impaired People of Moldova “Akant”. “We decided to help the children of this kindergarten because they were badly in need of these devices,” said “Akant” head Ecaterina Fulga.
The kindergarten’s director Larisa Melinteanu said that the devices will ease the lives of these children and the work of the educators in developing communication abilities. “It is very important to provide individual hearing aids. There will be also bought FM systems that are very necessary in our work to rehabilitate those with hearing impairments. The donated devices will be afterward adapted to the hearing perception level of every child,” she stated.
German Ambassador Matthias Meyer said that he wants these children to discover a new and interesting world. “The Embassy of Germany wants to do good things for the whole society, especially for children in difficulty,” he stated.
Kindergarten No. 167 is the only institution in Chisinau municipality that provides services for hearing-impaired children. It is attended by 54 children.
