Embassy of Austria in Chisinau inaugurated

The Embassy of Austria in Moldova has been inaugurated in a ceremony held in the evening of February 3. According to the foreign affairs ministers of the two states, the embassy will contribute to developing the bilateral relations, IPN reports.

Austrian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sebastian Kurz, OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, in a press beefing held jointly with his Moldovan counterpart Andrei Galbur, said the opening of the embassy will intensify the relations between the two countries. “We are present here with the Austrian Development Agency, which has been active for a period at the local level, but we are convinced that if we also have an embassy, our economic relations have even greater development potential,” stated the Austrian official.

For his part, Andrei Galbur noted that the opening of the embassy is a very clear signal of Austria’s interest in strengthening the relations with Moldova. “The Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Austria celebrate 25 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations. It is a quarter of century during which the people of Austria and the Government of this state provided constant support to Moldova’s modernization efforts and efforts aimed at ensuring a higher quality of life for its people,” said the minister.
