Elite troops of National Army involved in international drill in Romania

A group of soldiers of the special troops of the National Army during November 1-12 had taken part in the multinational exercise “Junction Strike 2021” that was held in Romania. Press officer of the Ministry of Defense Ala Diaconu has told IPN that these are annual exercises intended for the special forces, including airborne forces.

The Moldovan service members were drilled to plan, manage and perform special operations alongside counterparts from Romania, Georgia, Greece, the UK, Poland, Portugal and the U.S. The exercise was staged at the training centers in Reghin, Brădet, Miercurea Ciuc, Mihail Kogălniceanu and Sângiorgiu de Mureș.

This year “Junction Strike” brought together over 800 Romanian soldiers with about 100 land, air and sea vehicles and approximately 150 foreign service members from allied or partner states. The Moldovan soldiers didn’t have military equipment.

The scenarios for such exercises are not made public. As the drill was held in pandemic conditions, the COVID-19 protective measures were strictly observed throughout the exercise.
