Electronic voting will be used at the meetings of the Chisinau Municipal Council, while the meetings of the Council’s specialty commissions will be broadcast live. A decision to this effect was taken by the Chisinau councilors. The draft decision, put forward by the group of the Platform “European People’s Party - Iurie Leanca”, was adopted by the votes of 26 councilors attending the March 17 meeting of the Council, IPN reports.
It was also decided that the electronic vote in the Council’s meetings will be authenticated through a card and that a commission will be set up to supervise the introduction of the electronic voting system.
The councilors agreed that the money for introducing the system and for broadcasting live commissions’ meetings will be allocated from the Chisinau budget. It was estimated that the project will be implemented at a cost of about €20,000.
According to the author of the draft decision, councilor of the Platform “European People’s Party - Iurie Leanca” Victor Lutenco, the electronic voting system will ensure transparency in the decision-making process and will make the municipal councilors more responsible.
