Electronic electoral roll will be used in next elections

The electronic register of voters will be used in the parliamentary elections of this year. Parliament passed in the first reading amendments to the law providing that the register will start to be used in 2015. The bill was put forward by a group of Communist MPs, IPN reports.

Head of the Central Election Commission Iurie Ciocanu said in Parliament that the implementation of this system is close to an end. As regards the financial aspect, about 2.5 million lei is still needed and the money should be allocated when the 2014 state budget is adjusted.

When the electronic electoral roll is used, the voters will register at the polling place by entering the personal code to get into the system. The operator will check if the person didn’t vote at another polling place. Afterward, the voter will receive the ballot.
