Sales on the electronic communications market overall continue to rise slightly, according to the National ICT Agency. As reported by operators on the four submarkets – mobile communications, landline telephony, internet and data transmission, and broadcasting and rebroadcasting – total sales in the second quarter amounted to 1.583 billion lei. Compared to the similar period last year, sales rose on two submarkets: internet and data transmission, and mobile communications, by 12.3% to 186.8 million lei and 2.02% to 921.1 million lei, respectively. Sales on the submarkets of landline telephony and broadcasting&rebroadcasting slightly dropped to stand at 390.4 million lei and 78.3 million lei respectively. In the reporting period, the total number of users of electronic communications services rose on the first quarter by 2.4% to nearly 5.73 million. A total of 207 license-holders operated on the four electronic communications submarkets. Most of them operated on the broadcasting and rebroadcasting submarket (127 operators) and on the submarket of internet access, in particular at fixed locations (53 operators). The landline telephony submarket had 24 operators and the mobile communications submarket 3 operators.
