An electrical substation of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company that supplies electricity to the streets Uzinelor and Voluntarilor in Ciocana district caught fire in the evening of June 12. The supply of electric power was stopped and trolleybuses didn’t run in the area.
Contacted by IPN for details, the company’s director Dorin Chernyi said the trolleybuses were back on routes in about two hours, after the power system was connected to another station. On June 13, specialists will examine the scene to determine the cause of fire that was allegedly caused by a short-circuit as the substation is old, dating from 1972.
Press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies Liliana Pușcașu has told IPN that two firefighting teams were dispatched to the scene. The fire extinguishing operation wasn’t easy as the firefighters had to wait until the power supply was restored in the area.
