Electric stoves to work in Chisinau kindergartens

Electric heating stoves will be used in the Chisinau kindergartens in which the temperature will be lower than 18 degrees Celsius. The announcement was made by the head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb at Monday’s meeting of the City Hall, Info-Prim Neo reports. At a meeting of the National Commission for Emergencies, the central authorities decided that the students will continue vacationing until December 15, while the nursery schools will work according to the ordinary schedule. “I don’t know if the Education Ministry’s decision to suspend classes was logical given that the temperature is maintained and the gas supply is on, while the smaller children, who are more vulnerable than the students, go to kindergarten, where they have to sleep,” the Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said. Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb said that the preschool institutions will work because the parents have to go to wok and cannot leave their kinds at home. Also, the rooms in kindergartners are smaller and therefore warmer, she added. According to a communique from the Ministry of Education and Youth, as the education system must be prepared for resuming work after the natural gas was supplied according to a special timetable and in order not to put the health of the students in pre-university education institutions in danger, their winter holidays will be extended until January 14 inclusive. The untaught lessons will be given during the second half of the 2008-2009 school year, the communique says.
