The electoral period preceding the general local elections of October 20 will formally kick off on August 19, and the electoral campaign for every competitor begins with registration with the Central Electoral Commission, IPN reports.

According to the calendar approved by the Central Electoral Commission detailing the activities related to the organization and conducting of general local elections, the decision to determine the place and time for accepting documents for the registration of candidates for the position of district councilors, as well as municipal councillors of Balti and Chisinau municipalities will be taken before September 1.

By September 11, a decision is to be taken on the place and time of receiving the documents for the registration of candidates for the positions of village and city councilors, as well as mayors.

It is planned to establish polling stations by September 14, at the suggestions of mayors. The election bureaus of polling stations should also be established by September 26.
