Electoral period for July 11 elections underway

The electoral period for the snap parliamentary elections of July 11 started on May 5. During May 12-14, the Central Election Commission is to establish the place and time for receiving the documents needed for registering candidates. Afterward, there will be designated the aspirants for the seat of MP. The process will take place until June 11, which is until at most 30 days before the election day. The activities are stipulated in the calendar program approved by the CEC, IPN reports.

Until May 16, there will be constituted the electoral districts of the second level, while until May 21 – the district electoral councils of the second level.

The polling stations will be established until June 5 based on the proposals of mayors. At least 35 days before the election day, polling places will be set up abroad. This is the responsibility of the Central Election Commission, the Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. By the same time limit, polling stations will be established for the voters from the left side of the Nistru, with the involvement of the Bureau for Reintegration Policies.

After the documents for registering candidates are submitted, a decision on the registration will be taken during seven days. The list of candidates will be published until June 18.

Campaigning is permitted only after the candidate is registered as an electoral contender and until July 9 inclusive.

After the election runners are registered, the CEC will approve the model and text of the ballot paper for the July 11 elections. The contenders will be written on the ballot in the order that will be decided by draw on the day they file the documents for two or more candidates. The ballot papers will be printed until July 6 and will be transmitted to the electoral councils, together with the special stamps, on July 9.

According to the calendar program, voting on July 11 will last from 7am until 9pm. If necessary, the process will be extended by at most two hours.

Within 48 hours of the closing of polling stations, the CEC will present the reports on the district election results and the electoral documents and materials. Until July 20, the Commissions will submit the documents on the snap parliamentary elections of July 11 and the election outcome to the Constitutional Court, which will validate or invalidate the elections until July 25.
