The applicant for the post of mayor general of Chisinau municipality Andrei Munteanu, who represents the Progressive Society Party, wasn’t registered as a runner in the May 20 new elections. Contacted by IPN, Vitalie Miron, secretary of the Chisinau District Electoral Council, said the registration was rejected following heated debates owing to the identified incongruities.
Andrei Munteanu was the last aspirant whose application was examined by the Chisinau District Electoral Council. Thus, 12 candidates will compete for the mayoralty of Chisinau. Eleven candidates represent political parties, while Silvia Radu runs as an independent.
The registered candidates are: Vasile Costiuc of the Party “Democracy at Home; Andrei Nastase of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth”; Alexandr Roshko of the “Our Home-Moldova” Party; Reghina Apostolova of the Shor Party; Valeriu Munteanu of the Liberal Party; Ion Ceban of the Party of Socialists; Victor Stratila of the Green Ecologist Party; Maxim Braila of the People’s Party; Alexandra Can of the National Liberal Party; independent Silvia Radu; Alexandru Matu of the Russian-Slavic Party, and Constantin Codreanu of the National Unity Party.
