'Electoral accident' in Sangera

Sergiu Branzila, the candidate of the Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN) for mayor of Sangera town, denies having been involved in a road accident. He says that these rumors were spread by his opponent, who represents the United Moldova Party, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I was in another place than the one mentioned by my adversary that day,” Sergiu Brazila told a news conference held at the AMN on May 14. He said the published picture is fake. Sergiu Branzila does not rule out that the information about the accident is an attempt to settle an account with him after he proposed building one more church in Sangera at a meeting with voters. “It is not excluded that priest Chirilov, the bishop of the church in Sangera who is the husband of my opponent, tried thus to take me out of the electoral race, if a legal cases was opened against me,” Sergiu Branzila said. AMN vice president Victor Osipov said the party will always have a tough, but fair behavior in such cases. “We will formulate a position on this case in the near future. The prosecution bodies should investigate the case and take measures as this is a case of fabrication of evidence,” Victor Osipov said. The preparation of an attempt on the leader of a political party was framed up in Sangera last spring.
