Starting with January 15 until January 24, those who want to run for MP in single-member constituency No. 38 of Hâncești municipality can file applications to have initiative groups that would collect signatures in support of candidates registered. Applications can be submitted to the Hâncești Electoral Council situated at 126 Mihalcea Hîncu St in Hâncești, from Monday through Sunday, IPN reports.
According to the calendar program approved by the Central Election Commission, after the applications for registering initiative groups are filed, the Hâncești Electoral Council has three days to decide whether to register the initiative group or not. After the registration, the Council will issue permits and support signature sheets to the members of the initiative groups for collecting signatures.
A male candidate needs to collect 500 to 1,000 signatures, while a female candidate – 250 to 500 signatures. Only after the signatures are collected, an application for being registered as a candidate for MP can be submitted. The documents for registering candidates will be accepted until February 13 inclusive. Afterward, the electoral body has seven days to examine the candidate’s file and take a decision as to the registration or non-registration.
New parliamentary elections will be held in single-member constituency No. 38 of Hîncești municipality after Democratic MP Alexandru Botnari renounced the seat of MP won in this constituency in favor of the post of mayor of Hâncești municipality, where he won the November 3 runoffs.
