Elections in Corjova provoke unhealthy reactions

The Moldovan delegation to the Joint Control Commission (JCC) issued a communiqué saying that the head of the Transnistrian delegation had an unhealthy reaction to the information that the second round of mayoral elections will take place in Corjova village, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Moldovan delegation asked for the Commission’s support in ensuring the free movement of persons in Corjova so that they are able to exercise their right to vote, it is said in the communiqué. As in the first round of the elections, the polling place in Corjova will be set up in Cocieri. In the first round on June 5, several groups of militiamen blocked the Corjova residents’ access to Cocieri. The problem was solved in several hours after the peacekeeping forces intervened. On June 19, the voters in Corjova will choose between the PLDM’s candidate for mayor Valeriu Mitul and the PCRM’s candidate Sergiu Oprea.
