The election campaign prior to the presidential elections of this autumn will begin on August 31. A decision to this effect was adopted by Parliament on July 29, IPN reports.

The decision was taken following amendments to the Election Code that regulate the new conditions of organizing and holding the presidential elections.

The Central Election Commission will soon work out and approve the calendar program, which is a structured document that includes the actions that are to be taken in the electoral period and the timeframes, based on the powers of the main subjects involved in the electoral process.
