The United States welcomes the successful election of Moldova's President Nicolae Timofti, saying Mr. Timofti's election resolves the long-standing political stalemate and gives Moldova's political leaders the opportunity to tackle the important challenges that lie ahead, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a press release, the U.S. Embassy says the United States continues to strongly support the aspirations of the Moldovan people to build a democratic, prosperous European state, secure within its internationally recognized boundaries. “We look forward to working with Moldova's new president, and we continue to urge all of Moldova's political leaders to work together to implement important reforms to consolidate democracy, improve the economy, and strengthen the rule of law,” reads the press release.
