Election contenders between unionism and statehood

Moldova’s union with Romania is a solution to the economic problems faced by the country and can help ensure a correct and independent justice system, said representatives of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians. The representatives of Moldova’s Patriots Party have a diametrically opposed position. They accuse Romania of trying to destroy the statehood of the Republic of Moldova by promoting unionism. For their part, the representatives of the Professionals Movement “Speranța-Nadejda” said that when they come to power, they will propose introducing death penalty for acts of corruption, IPN reports.

AUR Moldova leader Vlad Biletski said Moldova’s union with Romania is possible during a short period of time, if there is political will in the Parliaments in Chisinau and Bucharest.

“We are a Romanian party that during less than a year managed to gain the trust of over 600,000 Romanians. This trust propelled us to the Parliament in Bucharest with 44 MPs. Our objective is to enter Parliament in Chisinau and to create that synergy between the two Romanian states and to bring the union closer. Romania has a functional law system, afunctional economic system. The pensions, salaries are several times higher than in the Republic of Moldova. Let’s bring Romania to the Republic of Moldova and you will see that we will live better,” Vlad Bilețchi stated in the electoral debates “You vote for you on ProTV”.

The representative of the Moldova’s Patriots Party showed his nostalgia for the Soviet period. Candidate for MP Sergei Perciun said Moldova’s economy can be revitalized by fully exploring the potential of the Eastern market.

“The country’s economy should be based on production. We will be able to do this only if we bring the post-Soviet territories back into a single economic mechanism, with the own production potential and market. We want to follow the Russia-Belarus model. What Romania does for the Republic of Moldova is aimed only at destroying the statehood of the Republic of Moldova,” stated Sergei Perciun.

Running under the slogan “Stop genocide”, the Professionals Movement “Speranța-Nadejda” will ensure social equity with decent pensions and salaries if it enters Parliament.

“We intend to go to the ECHR with hundreds of thousands of applications for pensioners who have pensions lower than 4,185 lei and for children who get allowances up to the age of three, but should receive these up to the age of 18. We guarantee that in a year we will stop corruption by a referendum where the citizens will be asked whether they want death penalty or life imprisonment to be introduced for acts of corruption. We suggest that all the priests should have salaries of at least 5,000 lei as this way they will not collect taxes,” stated the party’s representative Andrei Donica.

The electoral debates “You vote for you on ProTV” are produced by ProTV Chisinau in cooperation with Promo-LEX Association, RFE/RL’s Moldovan Service, the portal Anticorupție.md, the online publication NewsMaker, IPN News Agency and the portal Privesc.eu.
