Election campaign prior to local elections will be the harshest and dirtiest one, analyst

The election campaign prior to the June 14 local elections will be the harshest and dirtiest one in the electoral history of Moldova, political analyst Victor Gurau, who is a member of the Chisinau Council on behalf of the Party of Communists, said in the talk show “Pahomi” on Realitatea TV channel, IPN reports.

According to Gurau, as in the November 30 parliamentary elections, the ruling parties will try to make the people vote politically. “In Moldova we have institutionalized oligarchy that will not concede the power and will make everything possible to remain in power as long as possible,” he stated.

Gurau thinks the parties that are now in power do not have a suitable candidate for the post of mayor of Chisinau municipality, who could win the elections. “The ruling oligarchs do not have chances of winning the elections in a democratic way. The people are very disappointed in the government. Let’s take the April 5 protest, where most of the protesters were elderly people who yet represented all the segments of the political sphere, from the left to the right. It was a social protest,” he said.

The political analyst considers the local elections will bring many surprises, especially for the municipality of Chisinau. “The results of the local elections, especially in Chisinau, are unpredictable. I think no analyst will be able to make close forecasts. The local elections in Chisinau can thwart all the plans of the oligarchic parties,” he stated.

Earlier, Victor Gurau repeatedly said that he intends to run for the mayoralty of Chisinau.
