Elderly woman perishes in house fire

A woman aged 81 from Borosenii Noi village of Rascani district died in a house fire. Preliminary investigations show the fire was caused by the stove. The house owner’s carbonized body was found on the stove.

According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, firefighters presume the rules of using stoves were not respected. All the circumstances of the fire are yet to be found out.

Sources in the local mayor’s office have told IPN that the woman lived alone and didn’t have children. She was elderly, but was active.

The firemen warn the population to obey the anti-fire rules when using stoves and electrical heating devices, to extinguish the fire before going to sleep and to check the heating systems to see if they are functional. The 1,372 fires that occurred in Moldova so far this year resulted in the death of 93 persons. Seven of these were children.
