Elderly woman perishes in home fire in Ungheni district

A woman aged 83 from Cetireni village of Ungheni district died in a house fire in the morning of January 16. Requested by IPN to provide details, press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies Liliana Puscasu said the source of fire is not yet known. The woman’s body was found carbonized.

The call to the 901 service was made at nearly 4am. When on the spot, the firemen established that the fire engulfed the house and an annex. The body of the owner was found inside.

Another fire occurred in Paustova village of Ocnita district. A 35-year-old woman got poisoned with carbon monoxide emitted by a faulty stove. She was taken to the district hospital for receiving medical assistance.

Firefighters warn the population to observe the anti-fire rules when using stoves and heating electrical appliances, to put out the fire before going to sleep and to examine the heating systems to see if they work properly.

The 71 fires that happened in Moldova so far this year claimed eight lives.
