Eighteen persons were evacuated from an apartment building located in Chisinau’s Ciocana district in the afternoon of November 15 after an apartment from the 13th floor caught fire. The firefighters were alerted by neighbors. Seven firefighting vehicles were on the scene immediately. More than 60 firefighters struggled to contain the blaze, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Dorina Sochirca has told Info-Prim Neo. The firefighters used the sliding ladder to evacuate dwellers who remained blocked at the 14th, 15th and 16th floors. It is not yet known if there was somebody in the apartment when the fire started and what caused it. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, spokesman for the National Emergency Medicine Center Petru Cravet said that nobody was hurt in the fire. The doctors who traveled to the scene gave first aid to the persons on the spot. Many persons had only a scare.
