Eight-year-old boy who got poisoned by insecticide in a critical state

The boy aged eight who inhaled insecticide vapors was taken from the Cantemir District Hospital to the Mother and Child Institute by the Aviasan service. Press officer of the Mother and Child Institute Maxim Cazacu has told IPN that the boy was admitted to the intensive care section as he is in a very serious state.

The boy’s aunt and grandmother aged 33 and, respectively, 57, were transported to Saint Trinity Hospital in  Chisinau. Asked by IPN to provide details, the hospital’s spokesman Alina Siroshenko said the women were brought at about 3pm and are now being examined. They are conscious and are in a medium grave state.

The daughters of the 33-year-old woman died at the Cantemir District Hospital in the morning of October 29, shortly after being hospitalized. These were aged four and eleven.

The family inhaled insecticide vapors after the grandfather of the three children treated the wheat with insecticide, the grain being kept in an area close to the room were the children and the two women slept. The insecticide contains aluminum phosphate that is very toxic.
