Eight underground passages in Chisinau to be repaired this year

Eight underground passages have been planned to be reconstructed in the capital city this year. The municipality allocated 10 million lei for the purpose. The passages situated on Dacia Blvd, at the intersection with Teilor St and at the intersection with Decebal Blvd will be the first to be repaired, acting mayor Ruslan Codreanu announced in the ordinary meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, IPN reports.

As to the Shor Party’s announcement about its willingness to renovate the underground passages in Botanica district, the acting mayor said he hasn’t yet seen a relevant request made to the municipal authorities, but heard about such an intention from press reports. A number of business entities expressed their readiness to repair and maintain underground passages after the municipality issued them with notices concerning the termination of the contracts for the rent of commercial areas in such passageways.

“As I said earlier, we are ready to put the underground passages up for a tender contest and sign leases with business entities on condition that these repair and maintain them and we do not have the situation witnessed until now,” stated Ruslan Codreanu.

The leader of the Shor Party Ilan Shor last week said he asked for the Chisinau City Hall’s permission to restore all the pedestrian underground passages in Botanica district of the municipality.
