Eight outstanding people from the fields of arts, architecture and academia have become honorary citizens of Chisinau for their contributions to the development of the city. They received their insignia during an event dedicated to the National Day of Culture.
The honorary title was awarded to architect Albina Kiricenco, the co-creator of the famous Chisinau Circus, and whose career spans over 60 years.
The list also includes composer Gheorghe Mustea, historian and academician Andrei Eșanu, actor and director Vitalie Rusu, plastic artist Alexei Sainciuc, Vasile and Vitalie Advahov of the Advahov Brothers folk band, and the director and event producer Lidia Panfil.
“We have a lot of very talented people, we have people who are ambassadors of culture here at home or far beyond the borders of the country”, declared Mayor Ion Ceban.
The National Day of Culture is celebrated in Moldova on January 15, the birthday of the great poet Mihai Eminescu.
