A child aged eight months drowned in a lake in Răzeni village of Ialoveni district. The boy was in a carriage and got into the water when his older brother aged two years pushed the carriage.
Contacted by IPN for details, press officer of the Ialoveni Police Inspectorate Mariana Didenco said the police were called at about 1:30pm by the local doctor. The baby died before an ambulance arrived.
The children’s mother aged 28 was at the scene and took measures immediately, but could not save the baby.
The family lives in a house near the lake. Criminal proceedings were instituted in this case.
According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, 39 cases of drowning have been recorded so far this year. Eight of the victims were children. The grownups are urged to permanently supervise the small the children and not to leave them alone on the banks of rivers and lakes.
