Eight in ten students consider contraception necessary, poll
Almost 80% of the students studying in Moldova believe that the use of contraception methods is a necessity. A poll carried out by the Family Planning Society of Moldova shows that 79.63% of the female respondents and 58% of the male respondents consider that the use of a contraception method is necessary and efficient, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a communiqué from the Family Planning Society, 19% of the female respondents and 7% of the male respondents said that they use no contraception method for different reasons.
The responsibility for using a contraception method in a sexual relation is borne by both of the partners. Such an opinion is shared by over 85% of the participants in the poll, but it is seen that the women are more responsible.
It should be noted that the girls and boys start their sexual life at different ages – 15 and, respectively 18.
The poll was performed in order to identify the attitude and information level of the students as regards contraception methods. It involved 370 respondents aged between 18 and 26, who are students of Chisinau higher education establishments. The survey forms part of the Week to Raise Awareness and Inform the Population about the Modern Contraception Methods. It was carried out during September 25-30 on the occasion of the World Contraception Day that is marked on September 26.
