Eight drownings over a week
At least eight persons drowned during a week in Moldova, the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service has said.
The Service’s spokeswoman Liliana Puscasu has told Info-Prim Ne that teams of rescuers will patrol the lakes and ponds between June 1 and September 1, especially the most crowded places.
On June 2, the rescuers managed to save five drunken men from drowning. Two of them were taken out of the bottom of the lake.
As many as 38 persons, mainly men, have drowned in Moldova so far this year.
