Eight cinematographic projects this year will receive a total of 5.5 million in financing from the National Cinematography Center (NCC). These are four feature-length films, two documentaries, a fiction project development and a documentary project development, IPN reports.
According to the NCC, the cinematographic project that is at the top of the accepted projects is about the global COVID-19 pandemic. The fiction film “pandemia.md” by director and scriptwriter Valeriu Jereghi gained 79.80 points during this session. The script started to be written at the beginning of last year. The author relates stories that happened during quarantine.
The other projects are the fiction film “Mario, Maria, Marinel” by Violeta Gorgos, the Moldova-Romania-France co-production “The Anghel Family”, “Daria” by Ian Onică. “Zbor” (“The Flight”) by Mircea Surdu and Eugeniu Popovici, and the documentary “A century of theater in Chisinau” about Mihai Eminescu National Theater by the Theater’s director Petru Hadârcă.
The production house Nahaba Studio is to develop a fiction film with the provisional title “Maria Drăgan’s Curse” by Călin Laur and Ștefan Nahaba, while compatriot Xenia Chuvasheva who settled in Germany will produce the film “Landing”.
The 2021contest to finance cinematographic projects involved 28 production houses registered in the NCC’s database.
