Eight cars damaged by trees downed by wind in Chisinau
Eight cars and a trolleybus have been damaged by trees downed by the strong wind during the last two days, the head of the Green Areas Association Eliferie Haruta said Monday, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
Over 40 old trees had been forced down to the ground in Chisinau over the weekend as a result of the heavy wind and precipitation. The trolleybus line on Columna St was damaged. Three teams of the Green Areas Association worked to take the fallen trees away.
Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca instructed cleaning from snow the main Chisinau streets and the roads that connect the capital city and the suburbs first so that the transport is not hindered.
The head of the Public Transport and Communications Division Veaceslav Tarna said 63 units of transport had been involved in snow cleanup in the municipality last weekend.
From December 1, the Traffic Police have fined 42 drivers who did not put on winter tires.
