The European Investment Bank (EIB) provides €100 million in addition to the original €150 million loan for the rehabilitation and upgrading of key national road sections under the “Moldova Roads III” project. The Cabinet approved the ratification of the financing contract with the EIB, IPN reports.
Additional resources are to be attracted within the project to rehabilitate the national roads. New roads will be repaired, such as R34 Hâncești – Leova – Cahul – Giurgiulești, sector III, Cantemir – Cahul, M3 Chișinău – Comrat – Giurgiulești – border with Romania. There will be built the missing section and a bypass around the town of Cimișlia. Feasibility studies were carried out and project documentation was designed for the given road sections and tender contests to choose contracts are to be launched immediately after the financing for these is approved.
“The project will help improve the quality of the national road network and increase the mobility and efficiency of transport all over the country. There will be created new jobs and supported the economic development by investments attracted for the rehabilitation and building of roads,” noted the authorities.
