Relatives, friends and readers came to bid farewell to satirist, epigramist and translator Efim Tarlapan, who was buried at the Central Cemetery located on Armeneasca St in Chisinau.
The president of the Writers Union Arcadie Suceveanu said that Efim Tarlapan was a known and esteemed artist, who was a prolific writer and a prodigious anthologist. He knew well how to maintain the dialogue with his readers.
Writer Vladimir Besleaga has known Efim Tarlapan since his youth and the death of his colleague grieved him a lot. He said he met him recently and he seemed full of life.
Epigramist Gheorghe Bilici said that Efim Tarlapan was a real man of the nation who struggled with the injustice and imposture by his trenchant epigrams.
Efim Tarlapan died at the age of 71 on December 8. One of the most prolific writers, Efim Tarlapan contributed to literature over 60 book titles, original writings, anthologies and translations from universal history, which include satire works, stories, parodies, epigrammatic miniatures, poems for children, essays and aphorisms. The books he edited during his lifetime make him one of the most prominent representatives of the satirical-humoristic genre. He was the organizer of the first National Festival of Epigrams.
Efim Tarlapan was conferred the Master of Literature title and the Order of Honor of the Republic of Moldova. He was a Citizen of Honor of Cluj-Napoca Municipality and a Member of Honor of the Union of Epigramists of Romania.
