The Trade Union Federation of Education and Science (FSES) is announcing protests from December 10-19, until the approval of the draft state budget in final reading. The alleged reason is that the authorities have not planned sufficient spending for the promised salary increases for teachers, IPN reports.
"Since we do not have a clear result yet, at the meeting of the relevant parliamentary committee to be held on December 13, we intend to protest at the Parliament building with union members to demand the salary increases we are counting on," Ghenadie Donos, the president of the Federation of Education and Science Trade Unions, told IPN.
He added that the budget parameters are "far from the expectations of teachers, and the situation in the sector is tense".
According to the resolution of the FSES of December 9, the presidents of the trade union bodies will address letters to the Government, the Parliament and the Ministry of Education and Research, organize meetings and activities with demands for decent pay.
