The Ministry of Education, Culture and Research will hold consultations with associations of parents and representatives of the education system concerning the introduction of school uniforms.

Vitalie Gamurari, spokesman for the ruling Democratic Party, in a press briefing on April 3 said the initiative is broadly supported by parents and this fact is confirmed by opinion polls.

“The goal is not to impose this initiative. It should be a real wish. Discussions will be opened and the proposals formulated by civil society will be taken into account,” stated Vitalie Gamurari.

The Government was asked to carry out an analysis to determine the possibilities of offering financial support to socially deprived families for purchasing school uniforms, if this initiative is adopted.
