Education Ministry to conduct surveys on informal payments and bullying in schools

A survey on informal payments in schools will be carries out by the Ministry of Education and Research in 2024. Minister Dan Perciun announced this at a press conference, IPN reports.

“We talk a lot about the fact that there are informal payments in educational institutions and they really exist, but we want to have a figure to know in how many educational institutions they exist, what is the amount of these payments. Correspondingly, here we need representative research at national level and we aim to do these things in 2024,” stated Dan Perciun.

Also, a nationally representative survey will be conducted to measure the extent of bullying in schools. A national anti-harassment campaign will also be initiated. “This phenomenon is regrettably present in the Republic of Moldova. We must admit it. Respectively, improved communication on what bullying in school means and how we can reduce this phenomenon is needed,” said the minister.

Dan Perciun also said that there is a network of 40 national trainers for teachers, who this year are to conduct training in educational institutions, with teachers, to familiarize them with bullying, to help them detect situations when this phenomenon persists and how to assist students to overcome such situations.
