Education Ministry seeks aid from UNICEF for 2,000 children affected by natural disasters
Minister of Education Leonid Bujor asked the UNICEF Representative in Moldova Alexandra Yuster for support in providing assistance for 2,000 children affected by the floods caused by the Prut and the Nistru, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the Ministry of Education.
The minister also sought help in repairing the secondary schools in Cotul Morii and Nemteni villages of Hancesti district.
Leonid Bujor visited the camps “Ciresarii” in Vadul lui Voda town and “Alunelul” in Danceni, where children from the flood-hit Nemteni and Cotul Morii were accommodated. He asked the camp managers to take measures to ensure optimum living conditions and provide the children with clothes and footwear.
The minister requested that a psychologist be present in every camp. In “Alunelul” camp, the children have been already offered psychological assistance.
In a meeting, it was decided that the employees of the Ministry of Education and its subdivisions will donate the salary for one workday to flood victims.
