The Ministry of Education gave up the idea of video surveillance in the classrooms where students take the baccalaureate exam because they didn’t prove efficient. Next year, the Ministry plans to install jamming equipment. The announcement was made by Minister of Education Mihail Sleahtitchi at a press briefing, Info-Prim Neo reports. Mihail Sleahtitchi said that the Ministry would follow the French example and use jamming equipment in the classrooms where students take exams so that mobile telephony is blocked. “Cameras weren’t efficient. For example, in a baccalaureate center the footage was faked”, said the Minister. In another development, the National Examinations Commission decided at an extraordinary meeting that the “Mihai Viteazul” Lyceum would not be a BAC center for the next 5 years, because of the discovered violations. The center's head was fired and banned from this function, while the lyceum principal received a severe reprimand for allowing free rooms to be used for BAC frauds. All 8 assistants were fired and banned from their positions for 5 years. The head of the Tabani BAC center in Briceni was sacked as well and banned for 3 years. The lyceum principal was reprimanded. In Cimislia, the head of “Mihai Eminescu” BAC center was fired and 16 of 20 assistants were sacked and banned from this position for 3 years. This year, video surveillance was installed in three BAC centers- the Lyceum of the Academy of Sciences, “Mihai Viteazul” Lyceum and “Gheorghe Asachi” Lyceum.
