Education Ministry expects reports on 13 assaulted summer campers

All the relevant agencies responsible for summer camp activity shall submit by August 14 preliminary investigation reports on what exactly happened at a Vadul lui Voda summer camp where 13 teenagers were physically assaulted by two underage supervisors, the Ministry of Education requested.

According to information provided at a meeting of a specialized governmental commission, the case is investigated by the Ciocana District Police. It was revealed that police had been called at the same camp before on several occasions. As is also the case now, the camp was closed down then.

State Secretary Angela Cutasevici said a series of meetings will be held with a view to improving secondary legislation that regulates summer camp activity and closing existing gaps.

Thirteen teenagers, 11-15 years, were physically assaulted by two inebriated older fellow campers, 16 and 17 years, that were employed as supervisors by the camp administration. It was later revealed that the camp was unlicensed.
