The Government of Moldova and the Ministry of Economy on June 4 awarded prizes for the best essays about Moldova’s integration into the EU. The contest involved 44 students from all the university centers of the country. There were selected ten works, IPN reports.
“It’s good that the students perceive the European integration not as a ‘land of promises’, but as hard work and as a society that must be built at home. It’s good that we have this generation that is less anchored in the past with fears and prejudice,” Deputy Minister of Economy Igor Grosu said in the award ceremony.
The works were chosen by a commission consisting of specialists of the ministry. The best work - “The future of Moldova and Gagauzia on the road to European integration” – was written by Ana Celac, a sophomore of the Comrat State University.
Ana Celac works as a volunteer for a pro-European NGO. She wrote the essay in a move to convince the authorities of Gagauzia about the benefits of joining the EU. “I think that Gagauzia can accept the European integration, but the people should change their mentality and renounce the prejudice about the European Union,” said the author of the essay.
The authors of the ten selected works recdived diplomas, not yet money awards.
