The school and preschool institutions in the municipality of Chisinau have 300 vacancies for the position of teacher. The kindergartens in the capital city have 200 vacancies for teacher. A number of 194 posts of teacher were put up for contest this year, offered by the Ministry of Education. As many as 88 candidates have applied so far and they will be subsequently sent to kindergartens in Chisinau. Director of the Department for Education, Youth and Sports, Tatiana Tverdohleb, says that “due to the small salaries, the graduates of pedagogical institutions are trying to find a job in different areas”. The schools and lyceums in Chisinau have 100 vacancies for teacher, especially for such subjects as physics, informatics, physical training, mathematics. At the same time, there is a surplus of professors of Romanian, Russian and modern languages. Tatiana Tverdohleb considers that this is because “there are still many pensioners in the education system, and tens of young specialists are put on the waiting lists”. The latter are offered jobs in kindergartens.
