The education, youth and sports division of the Chisinau Municipality announced the National Literary Contest for School Students “Letter to Mother”. The contest is open to both Romanian and Russian speakers in secondary and high school grades, IPN reports.
There will be two categories: secondary school and high school. The text must have between 3500 and 4000 characters. Applicants should use normal, clear and concise language and avoid long and obscure phrases, as well the excess of foreign words. The jury will appreciate the originality of mother's portrayal and the emotionality of the text. The letters must be written by the students themselves. Teachers are only allowed to provide them with advice and technical or administrative support. Plagiarized texts will be disqualified. The deadline for sending the texts is February 10.
The best three letters in each category will be awarded with 2000 lei for the 1st place, 1500 for the 2nd and 1000 for the 3rd. The works must be sent in electronic format at scrisoaremamei@gmail.com (for Romanian speaker) or pismomame2015@gmail.com (for Russian speakers). The results will be announced on the eve of the Internal Women's Day on March 8th.
The contest is organized in partnership with the Moldovan Academy of Sciences, the Letters Department of the State University of Moldova and the NGO “Platforma Socrate”.
