Education Development Strategy approved

The medium- and long-term objectives for developing education and the main development directions of the education system in the European integration context are laid down in the Education Development Strategy “Education 2020” approved by the Government.

The strategy is based on three pillars: access, relevance, and quality. The strategic views, key measures, financing mechanisms and related costs are described for each component separately.

Another bill approved by the Government stipulates the norms concerning the financing of primary and secondary education institutions based on the standard cost per student. Furthermore, there were approved regulations concerning the distribution and use of financial resources from the district component and the fund for inclusive education.

Another document provides for the creation of the National School Inspectorate, according to the Education Code. The Inspectorate will promote a system of self-assessment and complex external evaluation of education institutions, contributing thus to a higher quality in the education system.

The Governemnt also approved amendments concerning the feeding of students. Thus, the Ministry of Education and the local authorities will make sure that the first-fourth graders from all the public and private institutions and the fifth-twelfth graders from the Moldovan-administered education institutions from the eastern districts of the country and from Dubasari, Causeni and Anenii Noi districts of the Security Zone are fed free of charge.

There were also agreed the regulations concerning the transportation of students. The buses will be equipped with video cameras and GPS systems and with a set of signals for identifying the vehicle.
