Principals, teachers, students and their parents from about 50 schools of Moldova are trained to promote leadership for equity and learning. The seminars are organized by the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport and form part of the Council of Europe’s program “Pestalozzi”.
Head of the Division’s information and relations with the community section Natalia Strajescu has told IPN that the education actors at these seminars discuss methods of promoting democracy in schools. The teachers, students and their parents can share their experience of participation in the decision-making process in schools and discuss the importance of leaders and managers of education institutions.
Natalia Strajescu, who is responsible for the project, said that the goal of the seminars is to disseminate the experience, standards and values of the Council of Europe in terms of content, methodology and principles. Within the training seminars, the teachers were informed about the practices and methods of taking part in “Pestalozzi” for their professional development.
“Pestalozzi” is a program for teachers. The main training seminars offered by this program are related to democratization, human rights defense, inclusion and development of the spirit of citizenship. A condition is for the teachers who take part in this program to share the experience they acquire within it with their colleagues at municipal level, stated Natalia Strajescu.
