Eduard Musuc set free for MDL 2 mln

The Court of Appeal set free Eduard Musuc the deputy chairman of the Social Democrat Party (PSDM) under a bail of MDL 2 mln, the maximum sum admitted by the legislation of the Republic of Moldova. According to a press release of PSDM, the Court of Appeal admitted the appeal of Musuc’s defense over the decision of Buiucani district Court on the prolongation of the arrest by 20 days. According to PSDM, through this decision, the court admitted that the detainment of Eduard Musuc lacks any grounds. One of the arguments of Musuc’s defense has based on the fact that the Buiucani district Court “cynically ignored the imperative norms of the penal code procedures”. Ghenadie Tata, the lawyer of the defense, declared that all the comments on decision will be presented after the Judgment of the Court of Appeal will be issued. On September 28, the Court of Buiucani district issued a 10 day arrest warrant on the name of Eduard Musuc, at the request of the Center for Combating Economic Crime and Corruption. Eduard Musuc and his father are accused of illegally taking into property a building located on Alba Iulia 77 Street, which belongs to JSC “Mold Itel”. Ion Mucuc was recently announced wanted by police. Both, Eduard Musuc and PSDM consider that these accusations are an order of the communist government.
