A number of members of the town and district councils of Edinet left the faction of the Communist Party (PCRM) and joined the faction of the Democratic Party (PDM). The former leader of the Communist faction in the Edinet Town Council Igori Nepeivoda has told IPN that more defections may follow as the party’s latest actions are aimed against the interests of the country and the people.
In a statement, the councilors who left the PCRM say the party’s administration lead the PCRM to degradation. The councilors say they will continue to fulfill their obligations towards the people as part of the PDM. The team of the Democratic leader showed that it promotes the interests of the residents of Edinet.
“We are the first among our colleagues, with whom we discussed the evolution of the crisis that hit the administration of the PCRM, who subscribed to this statement,” says the statement signed by Igori Nepeivoda and another two colleagues of his.
The councilors said that a number of people with a bad reputation recently entered the PCRM. Among them is the deputy mayor of Cupcini, who was dismissed for alcoholism, and an exhibitionist. The councilors are also dissatisfied with the policy promoted by the head of the Edinet District Council, who is the first secretary of the PCRM in the district. The latter is accused of selling the boarding school in Cupcini and other property at a very low price.
