Edinet and Cupcini towns short of water for several days

The residents of the towns of Edinet and Cupcini haven’t had running water for almost two weeks, a person informed the editorial staff of IPN by phone. SA Apa-Canal Edinet financial director Ludmila Miron has told the agency’s reporter that the water supply was stopped as a result of an accident on the central water pipe. She said yet that the problem appeared five days ago, not two weeks ago.

The person who phoned IPN said that life in the town became disastrous. The end-users insistently phone the regional water supplier, but nobody answers the phone. The people queue up at wells, which remained with not much water.

Ludmila Miron said an accident happened on the central water pipe on June 29. There were found four cracks in a pipe that is 630 mm in diameter. On June 30, in the interval between 21.00 and 23.00, the water supplier provided the inhabitants with water in tanks.

According to Ludmila Miron, the technical faults were removed on July 2 and a part of the residents of Edinet are already supplied with water. The water supply will be fully restored when the reservoirs of Apa-Canal Edinet are filled. The water is pumped from a distance of 40 km.

As many as 4,500 inhabitants of Edinet are clients of the regional water supplier.
