The municipal company “Edilitate” will repair the Chisinau street Alba Iulia at its own expense as it provided a grantee when it rehabilitated this street last year. Deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu Monday said that “Edilitate” will also maintain the street during the next three years, Info-Prim Neo reports. Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca said that when the investigation into the case of Alba Iulia St is completed, the persons to blame will be penalized and even fired. The rerun analysis of the material used to repair the street showed the lower layer meets the quality standards, while the upper layer of asphalt is of category V. The asphalt of this category is used to repair pavements and secondary roads. The water absorption degree is twice higher than the norm. “Edilitate” director Anatol Gorbunov did not want to comment on the case in Monday's meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials. The mayor instructed him to provide a written explanation. Alba-Iulia St was put into operation on October 14, 2010. The works cost over 20 million lei. In only three months, a portion of the street started to crack and crumble.
