The police seized drugs to the value of 4 million lei. The about 15,000 "ecstasy" pills were hidden in a music box, IPN reports.
According to the General Police Inspectorate, the criminal activity was documented for two months. It was established that the criminal group was led by a citizen of the Republic of Moldova who lives abroad, from where he directed the criminal scheme. The man illegally smuggled drugs into the country, which were later sold by other members of the group, who had the roles of couriers and storers. These are two residents of the capital city aged 24 and 26.
Following reports about the smuggling of a large quantity of drugs into the country, through a Germany-Moldova route for transporting parcels, the police carried out searches. Investigative officers, with the assistance of a sniffer dog, detected and seized up to 15,000 "ecstasy" pills concealed in a music box.
If the drugs had reached their destination, they would have been placed in special places and sold through online stores. The estimated value of the drugs excluded from the circuit is about 4,000,000 lei.
A criminal case was initiated on this case for illegal distribution of drugs in particularly large proportions by an organized criminal group. The two young people were remanded in custody. As for the leader of the criminal group, the police are to declare him wanted. The suspects face 7 to 15 years in jail.
