The Energy Community Secretariat (ECS) will support Moldova in transposing the relevant EU legislation. This was stated by ECS director Janez Kopač at a meeting today with Deputy Prime Minister Octavian Calmic.
The European official has announced that the European Commission is launching through the ECS a regional four-year project of technical assistance for Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia, having an overall budget of 4.6 million euros. In Moldova's case, the main objective is to help the authorities with developing secondary legislation to implement the already adopted laws transposing the acquis communautaire into the domestic energy sector, in line with Moldova's commitment as part of the Energy Community Treaty.
Janez Kopač has assured Octavian Calmic that his organization is willing to offer all the support needed to modernize the Moldovan energy sector and make it more efficient.
Octavian Calmic has stated that implementing energy projects is one of the Government's strategic priorities. Such projects include, among other, the interconnection of the Moldovan and EU power grids via Romania, or the modernization of the heat supply systems.
