Economy Ministry reviews economic growth forecast for this year

The Ministry of Economy improved the economic growth forecast for this year from 4% to 5.5%, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar, quoted by IPN.

The review was determined by the 4.9% growth of the GDP in the first half of 2013. The new forecast was discussed with the IMF mission that will be in Moldova until October 1.

“The statistical data are the main factor that makes us think that we will obtain a 5.5% growth this year. They show an improvement in the indicators in almost all the sectors – industry, agriculture, services, and investments. I named it organic economic growth. In 2014, the economic growth will be maintained in most of the sectors of the national economy,” the Deputy Prime Minister told a news conference.

According to Valeriu Lazar, now that the fiscal budgetary policy for 2014 is discussed, the Ministry of Economy is looking for instruments for stimulating investments to the economy and is making effort to remove the barriers to trade and business.
