Economy Commission approves Communist proposal on health insurance budget
The Parliament's Economy Commission has approved a legislative proposal by the Communist group which forbids alterations to the health insurance budget for the public employees, in particular downward, when authorities consider tweaks to the State Budget.
“The state has an obligation to take care of public employees. It is unacceptable to diminish the health insurance budget, because the state must ensure that public employees enjoy all the range of medical services when they fall ill”, Communist MP Oleg Reidman told Info-Prim Neo.
The bill also provides that the payment of health insurance contributions must be done no later than the 15th of every month. “This provision was necessary because the Ministry of Finance was using some legal gaps to say that there wasn't a clearly fixed date when such transfers should be made and that it could do this on December 31 if they wanted”, said Oleg Reidman.
The Communists' proposal was unanimously endorsed by the Commission's members attending.
